Every perfume begins long before the first spray. It begins with an idea, a feeling, a person or a moment we cannot quite forget. It passes through flowers, woods, roots, resins and spices before becoming something that can be worn on the skin.

At 528 UNDERGROUND, sound is also part of that journey. Our 528 Hz ritual brings sound and intention into the creation of every perfume.

WHAT IS 528 HZ?

A hertz is a unit of frequency. One hertz represents one vibration per second, meaning that a tone of 528 Hz vibrates 528 times each second.

528 Hz belongs to a modern group of tones known as the Solfeggio frequencies. The story of the Solfeggio frequencies connects an ancient musical tradition with a much more contemporary interpretation. Solfège itself can be traced to medieval music, while the specific numerical frequencies used today, including 528 Hz, emerged centuries later.

Within modern sound practices, 528 Hz has become known as the “Love Frequency” and is associated with harmony, transformation and human connection. Used within meditation, sound work and contemporary wellbeing practices, each frequency is associated with a different emotional or energetic intention.

Research into individual Solfeggio frequencies remains at an early stage. A small number of studies have explored how listening to 528 Hz music may affect mood, stress-related biomarkers and the autonomic nervous system, with some interesting preliminary findings. However, the studies remain limited, and there is not yet sufficient scientific evidence to establish therapeutic or medical benefits.

At 528 UNDERGROUND, we are interested in the space between what can be measured and what can simply be felt. We do not use 528 Hz as a scientific claim or a promise of healing. Its place within our brand is symbolic, philosophical and creative. For us, it represents intention: the invisible energy behind something made with care.

WHY 528 UNDERGROUND?

The name 528 UNDERGROUND reflects two sides of our identity.

528 speaks to love, connection and the frequency incorporated into our creative ritual.

UNDERGROUND speaks to independence. It is the part of us that is instinctive, unconventional and uninterested in following the expected route or passing trends.

Together, they express the tension at the heart of the brand: energy and earth, intention and freedom, the unseen and the deeply physical. Perfume exists in a similar space. It cannot be seen, yet it can alter the atmosphere of a room, bring back a forgotten memory or change the way someone inhabits their own skin.

OUR 528 HZ RITUAL

Every 528 UNDERGROUND perfume is handcrafted in small batches in the South of France.

Once a composition has been blended, the 528 Hz frequency is introduced as part of our production ritual. The fragrance and perfume is bathed in 528 Hz music while it’s being put together and then rests, bringing sound into a process already shaped by material, time and human touch.

We do not describe this as a treatment, nor do we suggest that it gives the perfume therapeutic properties. Its purpose is creative and symbolic: a pause in the process during which we return to the intention behind what we are making. It reminds us to slow down. To pay attention. To remember that the perfume passing through our hands will eventually become part of somebody else’s life.

Introducing the frequency into this ritual gives our intention a physical presence, a moment of sound and vibration within the creation of each perfume.

INTENTION, NOT PERFECTION

Ritual does not make something perfect. It makes us present.

The 528 Hz frequency is not a promise that a fragrance will change your life. It is a reflection of the care with which that fragrance was conceived and created. For us, intention lives in every decision: the materials we select, the people with whom we work, the small batches we produce and the time we allow each composition to settle. The frequency simply gives that intention a sound.

The ritual is our way of remembering why we create: to make something with feeling, offer it with honesty and leave space for each person to experience it in their own way.

SOMETHING YOU FEEL

Perfume has always been more than a pleasant smell. It is memory without language. Identity without explanation. A private signal sent from the skin into the world.

The 528 Hz ritual belongs to this unseen dimension of fragrance. You do not need to rationalise it, or listen for it. You only need to experience the perfume and notice what it awakens in you. Perhaps nothing happens beyond enjoying the scent. Perhaps that is already enough.

Every bottle carries the materials from which it was made, the hands that brought it together and the intention that accompanied its creation.

528 is the frequency. UNDERGROUND is the attitude. The perfume is where they meet.

WHERE FEELING BECOMES VISIBLE

This is where our own exploration begins.

Using an Aura reading machine, we first create a baseline reading intended to represent your aura, chakras and energetic state before applying any fragrance. You are then invited to experience each perfume individually, allowing us to observe how the machine represents any changes that appear in the subsequent readings.

The intention you bring to the experience also matters. You might choose a perfume because you want to feel more grounded, more confident or more open. By naming that intention before wearing it, you create a personal point of reference: not only How does this smell? but How do I feel, and what - if anything - appears to shift?

The Aura reading does not provide a medical diagnosis or scientific proof that a perfume changes your energy. We use it as an experimental and reflective tool: a way of making an otherwise invisible experience visible and inviting a deeper conversation between scent, intention and self-perception.

The result is not about finding a perfume that promises to transform you. It is about becoming more conscious of how you respond and discovering which fragrance feels most closely aligned with the energy you want to embody.
